Busy day for the Yankees yesterday. They lose Robinson Cano to the Mariners and Curtis Granderson to the Mets. But they lock up Hiroki Kuroda and signed the best postseason hitter in the history of the game, Carlos Beltran to a three year deal. Below is an aerial view of Opening Day for the first Yankee Stadium on April 18, 1923. While it had it's trademark short porch in right field for Babe Ruth, it was a nightmare for right handed hitters who wanted to put the ball in the left center gap, which was a mere 523 feet from home plate when the stadium first opened.
