It goes without saying that Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer of all time (even though "all time" really only dates back to the late 1970s when his roll became prominent). To commemorate his retirement, MLB bought out ad space in major newspapers across the nation congratulating Rivera on his stellar career. Is this a bit much for one player? Where is the ad saluting Todd Helton on his career? Why didn't they do this for Craig Biggio or Tony Gwynn? I think this is over-the-top, but what do you guys think?
