It was a very rough day for Major League Baseball as several big names landed on the DL. Brandon Phillips will be out for at least six weeks after tearing a ligament in his thumb. Yadier Molina will be out for at least eight weeks, also with a torn ligament in his thumb. Masahiro Tanaka, the hottest pitcher in baseball this year, has a partially torn UCL and may need Tommy John surgery, effectively ending his rookie year.
