Michael Weiner passed away last night after battling cancer for over a year. Weiner took over as leader of the MLBPA in 2009 for Donald Fehr and was essential in not just maintaining labor peace between players and owners but in instituting MLB's current drug testing policy following the steroid era. While Weiner never took the field in a Major League game, his impact was felt by everybody. Check out Jerry Crasnick's column over at ESPN on how large Weiner's impact on the game really was following one of MLB's darkest times. http://es.pn/1bbe2Xl
