There was a very good chance that Greg Maddux would become the first unanimous Hall Of Fame inductee as he is universally believed to be one of the greatest pitchers of any era. What people didn't count on is that some people are very dumb. One baseball writer completely left Maddux off his ballot. Why? Because he won't vote for anyone who played in the steroid era.
